About Us

Here at the Vineyard we recognize that everyone is being formed in some way. Our dream is to see a community of people that are choosing a way of life together that Christ may be formed in them. We believe that this is done by Following the way of Jesus: Love God, Love People.

The way of Jesus is more than just knowing a few Bible verses or sitting in a church service here and there. The way of Jesus is deep and transformative. Jesus calls us to a life where we love our enemies and care for those who we have a hard time relating with. This way of being also brings us into a relationship with God. That we can trust God with our lives, that God knows us inside and out and knows the best way to live. We do this by focusing on three areas:

Spiritual Formation

We need to be intentional about what is forming us. This is why we encourage regular practices of Bible reading, being in regular community with others, worship, serving, silence and solitude, prayer, and many other acts of engagement and disengagement that have historically helped Christians be more like Christ.

Practical Community Involvement

The way Jesus leads us outward. We want to be a blessing for our larger local community. It may be throwing a community party, turning wrenches on cars for people that need a hand or meeting other felt needs. We are constantly thinking of creative ways to be involved in our community in practical ways.

Being on Mission with God

We truly believe that the way of Jesus is the answer of how to live the good life. Having a commitment to Jesus should produce in us something different then the world around us has to offer. Naturally, when we experience this hope, we would want to tell others. Sharing with others about Jesus has been put this way “one blind beggar telling another where they found bread.”

Meet the Pastor

Sean and Kelly with their five kids have a love for the local church. Over the years they have served in many different capacities. They take the saying by John Wimber (founder of the Vineyard) “ I am just a nickel in God's pocket, and He can spend me any way he wants” to heart.

You can find Kelly on most days homeschooling her kids, sewing, or laughing with friends. Sean loves to canoe, camp and hunt in the maine woods. They both have a down to earth philosophy of ministry and love seeing people discover who God has made them to be and walk in the joy that Christ offers freely to all.

Beliefs

As a modern people following an ancient faith we stand in agreement with the claims of the Apostles Creed. We find these claims made from scripture central to our Christian formation.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.
